Package version string problem

  • Subject: Package version string problem

Hi all

I try to use major.minor.release.builddate as my package version string. For example, the version string would like 1.1.2.20070918.
What I want to do is: Our old build can not be installed if newer build has been installed. For example, if 1.1.2.20070918 has been installed, we could not install 1.1.2.20070910 on the system. But when I try with Packagemaker, I found I could only specific the 1.1.2 as the package version.I try to modify the distribution.dist or info.plist(modify the CFBundleShortVersionString and IFMajorVersion) directly, but it seems this method does not work.

Can anyone explain me about how the version string works and suggest some way to solve this? I know I can write the version in somewhere and check the version in InstallationCheck. But I would like to use the mechanism provided by Mac.

Thanks.
