Just make sure you use the --id (or -i in short version) option from
the packagemaker command line when using the --doc (-d) option. With
--id, packagemaker will indeed crash when given a pmdoc.
I'm using PackageMaker 3.0.2 and 3.0.3. Here's the command I use in
our automated builds to create a distribution:
/Developer/usr/bin/packagemaker --verbose --doc
"/Volumes/source/Installers/Sandbox/Installers/AppleInstaller/MyProduct.pmdoc"
--id "com.adobe.MyProduct_en_US" --out
"/Volumes/source/Installers/Sandbox/BuildResults/Packages/MyProduct/mpkg/My
Product.mpkg"
