We're seeing a problem with our Installer on Leopard that seems related
to security, but I was hoping someone here might know what's going on.
Our Installer includes a postflight script. The Installation runs
authenticated. The postflight script is written in perl. During the
postflight script we want to execute a tool that is part of the
installation package. Naturally the tool needs to run as root for it to
do it's work.
On Tiger, this work beautifully. On Leopard, the tool is not even loaded
or run. We added a sleep() to the beginning of the tool. It's never executed.
If I move the tool to a standard location (ie /usr/bin) and specify that
in the perl script, the tool runs fine. If I run the tool directly from
the shell using sudo it runs fine.
However, running the script from the shell using sudo also does _not_ work.
What new security feature have we run into? How to do we handle this
situation?
Thank you for your help,
...Duane
