You must write into a known file name/path that is accessible to the
logged in user and maybe root (if your script asks for root auth).
Yes, this is a security problem. Be very careful that you can create
the file safely. If not, a malicious hacker can put a symlink to /
kernel there and the machine won't reboot.
Or worse.
