- Thread-topic: Attempting to install a prefPane from a shell scrtipt -- attempting to automate the process for the user
Good afternoon everyone,
I hope that this tangential question is relevant enough to this list to
warrant some comments. Thanks for any insights offered!
I have a prefPane that I need to install from a shell script (I know that
the user can double-click on the prefPane file itself and the file will
handle its own installation, but that is not a viable option in this
scenario....)
I have tried using ditto to allow me to copy the prefPane into
/Library/PreferencePanes, but that only copies the CONTENTS of the prefPane
into the target directory.
I have been trying to get ditto to work in three lines (create a zip file,
copy the zip file and then unzip the zip file to the target directory) but
so far that has not worked either.
I am hoping that someone on this list has had this conundrum and found a
viable solution that they are willing to share. If not, could someone
suggest a better list for this question?
Thanks for any and all assistance.
Regards,
Steve O'Sullivan
