Hi.
I am trying to use Leopard's PackageMaker for the first time to install a Java webapp. These are very basic questions, so I apologize in advance. I am not an Apple person.
1. With Leopard's PM version, do I need to bundle all the files into a myApp.app file before adding it to the PackageMaker? It didn't appear necessary in the UI, but when I build, I am getting "Could not copy root to split forks." I don't know what that means at all.
2. Also, from googling a lot, it looks like an earlier PM version allowed for requiring user to be root to run the installer, but I only see the option to prompt for "Admin Privileges" with the Leopard PM version.
3. Finally, is it really NOT okay to mess with permissions of
files on Mac OS X post install? I have seen mention of this several places on the Internet. And my installer was somehow removing the "other"'s execute permission from the java executable under /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM..../Home/bin/java. Very BAD.
Thanks for the help.
