For anyone trying this out, I could not get "default" to access the file using a relative path, but it did work when I specified an absolute path.
(Mac OS X 10.5.5)

Yep. defaults requires absolute paths and the .plist extension to be stripped.


PlistBuddy doesn't have these particular limitations , and in 10.5 is shipped in /usr/libexec/
