Hi All,
I am testing apple installers for our product and I could not find any testing forums for apple installers, so posting this message here.
My question is how does Mac OS X detects when to upgrade. Our's is a flat installer package with multiple packages in it
So MyApp.pkg contains:
MyApp.MainComponent.pkg
Myapp.Component1.pkg
Myapp.Component2.pkg
Myapp.Component3.pkg
Now we can install our product to non startup disk too. In that case only "MyApp.MainComponent.pkg" is installed to non startup disk and rest of the packages are installed in the startup disk.
So the receipt entry for "MyApp.MainComponent.pkg" is created on non startup disk and receipt entries for rest of the packages are created in the startup disk.
Now if I install to non startup disk and then again try to install the product with same package, it shows as install. Even if I make other disk as startup and try to install from that disk, it still shows as Install.
So I was wondering how does upgrade works?

Varinder
