Set background in dmg for leopard and snowleopard compatibility

Setting image background for dmg in leopard and mounting it in snowleopard will result in a backgroundless view.
Applicable for viceversa also(snowleopard->leopard).
Is there any trick to create such a dmg with image background which could be compatible for snowleopard and leopard.
