I forgot to mention that the behavior of my pkg varies between copy and move depending on whether the user chose the same volume on upgrade or not. The move behavior is noticed only when a folder on the same volume is selected. If a folder on a separate volume is selected, then a copy is created and the original is retained.

Hi,
I've a distribution package that seems to be relocating on upgrade rather than reinstalling. Say I install the pkg to the default location, A. Next I re-invoke the installer and therefore have it run in upgrade mode. This time I go to the customize pane and choose to redirect a component package to a new location, B. The Installer application installs the component at B but removes the component from A. In my mind this seemed reasonable but then I noticed that this is not how the XCode install behaves. If I repeat these steps with XCode's Essentials component, the Installer retains the install in A and creates a fresh install in B.
I glanced through XCode.mpkg's scripts but could not find anything inspiring. Does anyone have any clue how this might work?
Thanks,
Sakshi
