Although it wouldn't have as many customer-facing niceties, theLuggage(https://github.com/unixorn/luggage) is another great tool to look at, which utilizes makefiles that you can then stick in a version control system.

I literally used Composer yesterday to repackage EFI fiery drivers from a VISE installer! Please, help me help you!
