I'm just lurking here, no experience with packaging, I use VISE X, so
apologies if this is stupid or obvious - but did you try something as
obvious as extracting the MS folder icons into an .icns file (or locating
the .icns file, if it already exists), and then installing that custom icon
into the folder during installation? I install my own apps into folders with
custom icons...it works... I don't see why you couldn't install the MS.icns
into a folder, as a separate step. You can also do that with command line.
