Run pre-GUI script as root

Hi,

I'm using Packages to build my installer, and I'm finding the need to run a command, *as root*, before the GUI runs. Specifically when my custom installer screen is run I need to already have postgres running on the system, and so I need something to run a 'serveradmin start postgres' command with root privs. The installer doesn't ask for the root password until the actual install step it seems. Is this possible?
