Checking package version

  • Subject: Checking package version

I am using Packages to create an installer for a plugin.

According to the documentation at http://s.sudre.free.fr/Software/documentation/Packages/en/Package_Settings_Customization.html#2 the Installer should check the version of the installation package.

I was expecting that in case a newer version was already installed, the installer will deny installation. I was testing this with installing a version 1.0.0 over a already installed 2.0.0 package version. However the installer will proceed with an 'Upgrade' action and also the receipt files in /var/db/receipts are updated.

I wondering if I misunderstood something here or if this check has to be done in another way, e.g. through a script.

Thanks,
Stefan
