What is the right way to make a 'defaults write' to user preferences? As a user selectable option, I'm needing to disable "Displays have separate Spaces" in Mission Control when the installer runs. googling wasn't helpful.
I've tried this or some variation of it about 30 times
/usr/bin/su $USER -c defaults write $USER/Library/Preferences/com.apple.spaces spans-displays -bool true
