How are you creating the desktop and dock icons? What are bristow and emmett?
I imagine that if you’re using a postinstall script, both items will only be
created when a user is logged in, and will only be created for the current user
(the one installing the package). If you post your code, we can take a look
and see where it might be failing.
In general, I’d recommend against doing either of these things, though.
Deployment tools such as Munki will install your package as root, and may
install your package at the login window (without a user session at all). If
your package doesn’t anticipate either of these scenarios, your software will
have to be repackaged for deployment in an enterprise environment.
