Like where do you want to install your package? How do you want it to be installed? As far as the installer telling you that all volumes are unavailable because there are no prior install, does that mean that you've set that condition in the "Distribution" requirement pane? Or did you set it in the "Choices" pane and in that case you would have a patch for this choice and a full install for another choice. I'm finding it impossible to understand the documentation for PackageMaker 3. It always skips to "Standard install on ..." pane. Then I have to click on "Change Install location..." to get the "Select a destination" pane, which get's "Destination Select" bullet on the left highlighted. I've tried that combo again, just now after I read you e-mail, it didn't work either. Hi again, I just played with this a bit in PackageMaker and when you have "Volume selected by user" and "User home directory" checked then you get the Destination select screen every time. Are you seeing a situation where it does not function this way? Just to be more clear and thorough, What I actually want is for the installer to show the pane that has "Install for all users of this computer" and Install for me only" choices displayed. As I understand it this is not possible. The screen is set up in such a way that if there is only 1 possible choice for the installer to pick (only 1 volume meets the requirements) then the page is automatically skipped in code. I read that it is a feature to skip the "Destination Select" pane. However, I feel like making it clear to my users where they want to install the bundle am packaging. I could ignore this only if the destination is *clearly* highlighted in the next pane, i.e. "Installation Type". Yes, I mean choice as in volume or home directory if you have that option turned on. Wouldn't a choice constitute two different directories on the same volume, i.e. Home or Root Library? If you are using the Home directory install option then yes having that and a volume able to install should make the screen visible, but if you are doing it any other way it wouldn't be set by this screen. After browsing the net for answers I understand that one possible solution to this is to install the files in some temp place and then copy them over to the user folder in the postflight script. What I'm missing are a few details: a. How do I get the path to the user home folder, considering the fact that the script is being run under root (will $HOME give me the right result? it does in my tests but I don't know where this is documented - I just saw some people use it)\ b.
