Thanks Stephane, Indeed I tried again today and my folder in Application Support was created with the proper 777 permissions- not sure if it's because I tried on 10.7.5 and yesterday was on 10.8- is that the OS you are on? Another person tried my installer today and it was not properly creating the folder with 777 permissions (again 744). We use Packages for our software installer (flat format), and noticed with the most recent OS versions of 10.7 and 10.8, the permissions we set for a created folder in Application Support now get ignored - if I set it to 777 in Packages it comes out 744 in the Finder.
