Background pictures in disk images are not backward compatible most of the time and not perfectly forward compatible. If you intend to support Mac OS X v10.x and later, the safest thing to do is to build and set the background picture on a system running Mac OS X v10.x. > 2. Since PackageMaker seems to be in disfavor and pkbbuild the way to go for 'complex' installs what about the simple drag and drop install process. Is there any Apple documentation on how to build a DnD .dmg? I have tried some approaches but … 1. When distributing the background disappears 2.
