So in your case, you have the following structure: Device Root / Production Name / PSDS / MOTION / QUICKTIME (or maybe you have those last three directories at the same level). SoL As I understand it, you want to create a production for each 'Production Name' folder. And you want that directory to be the same of the title as well. So in the Production Scan you want the following settings: Production Metadata = (Whatever you like), and inside that: Title = [0] (this means that it will fill in the field from the directory at Level 0, which in this case is Production Name) Scan Metadata: Scan Mode = Add Only (you'll also want to make another identical response and make this Full and run it once a day or so) Production Depth = 0 (this means that it will create productions at Level 0, which in this case is Production Name) Recursion Limit = 0 (this means that it will recurse forever, put in a number if you want to limit it) Includes and Excludes = if you like Given the way it works, you can do some interesting things with mapping directory structures to names. Let's say I have a dir structure like this: I could generate productions from Level 2 (Production Name), and map Client, Due Date and Production Name into 3 different fields. And if you want to get fancy, the metadata substitutions also accept regular expression matching, so a directory like Producer Name_Production Title can be mapped into 2 separate fields. I apologize, but the Apple discussion boards are down right now, so I was unable to first check there for a possible answer to my quandary. I have a FCSvr Device and within which I have a specific directory hierarchy for every production: At a scheduled interval I want a "Production Scan" checking for any new or modified assets in the PSDS folder and then importing them into FCSvr and associating them with the appropriate production, which is the name the Parent Directory of each PSDS folder. Mathew Geller's book suggests this is as simple as creating a production scan response and using a number in brackets for the desired meta data fields such as production title. I have tried a number of combinations of different numbers in the brackets with a different number for the production depth field and every attempt thus far only results in the files being imported as assets, but they arn't associated with any productions. Using Core Video in a separate applications, the values match the original Y values. Inside Final Cut Pro, the values are only matching in the first and last 10 percent or so of the video brightness range. I've tried Gamma Correction, and all forms of compensating I can think of, but it doesn't pull back the original Y values. Alas. the XML (via the Read XML response) only allows you to add ordinary metadata (entries in the pxmdvalue table). The annotations are kept in a separate table (pxtcmdvalue). I *think* you can do what you want with markers, and markers can even be exported with a QT Export of a sequence or clip. You can bring markers in via XML. Having finally got the XML out of Filemaker to link perfectly with the original media in FCP (thanks everybody for your help) I'm now trying to do something similar. I want to take the Filemaker XML and change that into FCS annotations so producers can navigate to scenes and view the proxies on laptops. is there an easy way to do this? Does FCS accept XML or any other third party logging references? Just a note here to say we have about 500 items logged per two hour quicktime.
