I should port a win app, which uses irda sockets, to OS X. I cannot find any
documentation on irda under OSX, however. How is it with irda support on OS
X? Where should I start?

AFAIK the only support for IrDA on Mac OS X is for IrCOMM. This acts like a serial port, so you can access using the standard serial APIs.
