Does anyone know if you can 'talk' to a Unix FIFO from within Carbon? I'd ask this on the Carbon list, but I suspect most Carbon developers have no need for Unix FIFOs.

If you're asking, can you call the BSD API that talks to a Unix FIFO, then certainly you can. I don't know what API that would be, but you can call any BSD API you like from a Carbon app - either directly, if your app is built using mach-o, or through a function pointer, if your app is built using PEF.
