I'd say the difference is merely philosophical, especially on an OS that
prefers to reference file objects with URLs. Also, LaunchServices allows you
to specify the role of the helper application -- is it a viewer or an
editor?
Seems to me that IC's preferred browser setting should be a subset of the
file type <--> application assocation map. Then you'd have to somehow push
the whole "role" concept to the UI level. Nevermind.
