Do you want to use PAP or ADSP? For ADSP you can use the ADSP CTB tool with any CTB-aware terminal program. I don't know of any off-the-shelf solution for PAP.

The sadly-missed "LaserTalk"...

I wrote a little appl many years ago called "Janus" that bridged a serial port and PAP (this was in the days when LaserWriters cost US$7K). As a by-product it could send a PS file to the printer and display the response. Alas it relied on the old "load PDEF 10 and use it to do PAP" trick and no longer works with recent OS releases. However, if someone wants the code to hack, e-mail me. Since PAP is directly supported in OT these days, it shouldn't be too hard.
