Using the broadcast address
Using the broadcast address

Hi all,
I need to be able to send packets to all computers connected to a LAN, I
understand that this is possible using appletalk, but for various reasons
would prefer to use straight tcp/ip.
It *appears* from what I have been able to gather that there is a
broadcast address that I can send to, consisting of the highest IP number
in the allowable range, ie, 192.168.1.255 for that ip range.
Does anyone know of any documentation I can get to find out more about
this?
specifically, how do I connect and send to the broadcast address, and how
can I receive packets addressed to the same.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Yours cheerfully,
Andrew Bush
