Now,
Im using a tool to config the internet settings. I don't pre-authorize to do it ( I dont want to make the user enter a password everytime they want to connect to the net ). When the tool is done it will switch to our set, start a PPP connection, and then upon termination of the PPP connection its going to restore the settings to what they were before.

Of course, the tool needs to self-repair itself so that it can be owned by root. as given in the sample code it uses AuthorizationExecuteWithPrivileges to execute as root.

My question is, is there anyway to do the same thing, without presenting the dialog that AuthorizationExecuteWithPrivileges puts up? What I want to be able to do is the same thing, but with a dialog that instead of a generic document icon, has the icon of my app, and says the name of our app instead of "Authorization Trampoline". Any ideas? ( is it possible to do it any other way? )

I think the "Authentication" window is quite unprofessional. ( from the view point that its presented in a branded application ).

oh ya, is there a different list that this question would be better suited for?
