Hi Mark,

Hmmmm no spaces, so that means that web shuttle (ws_imlppp) one might work,
but not "bt digital access usb", if I can find this file.
The spaces seem to confuse the Network config panel only - so don't bother... I once patched that list to ignore our 30 faxmodem ports on our AngeloVX board. Can you imagine having 30 additional, useless ports showing up in your network panel? And if you remove the card, you have to manually delete each entry one by one!
I then discovered that the ignore feature only works with ports that have no spaces in their names...

But this is traveling over to the IOREgistry, and is this just specific for
the WebShuttle ???.
Yes, this is just a left over from previous tries (and taken from the original CDC driver which also set(s) a 'Product Name' entry).
There seems no official way for an app to display better port names than the BSD TTY/CU names. Keyspan's serial adapters show up in a similar fashion, btw. Only the names listed in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/NetworkConfig.framework/Versions/A/ Resources string lists might be translated...
