It definitely transitions to T_IDLE. This is clearly documented in
the TPI specification.

Specifically, look at Tables 4-2 and 4-7. Table 4-2 describes event
"accept2" as "successful return of t_accept() with ocnt == 1, fd !=
resfd". Table 4-7 shows that if the state is T_INCON and event
accept2 happens, the provide transitions to state T_IDLE.

FYI, the URL you sent does not contain language corresponding to the remaining text of your message [...]

Hey, you're right. I sent you to the TPI specification (which is the kernel side of this stuff), whereas I should have sent you to the XTI specification (which is the client side stuff).

The correct URL is:

<http://developer.apple.com/macos/opentransport/docs/dev/xti.pdf>

Sorry about that, Chief.

I wonder whether you can tell
me what I should have searched for in order to have found that
document?

Searching for "XTI specification" yields the following page as the third hit.

<http://developer.apple.com/macos/opentransport/docs_dev.html>

This page has a link to all of the STREAMS specifications (XTI, TPI, DLPI).

I have been looking near
http://developer.apple.com/macos/opentransport/
for just such documentation.

Most of the way down that page there's a section entitled "Networking Resources" which contains a link "Developer Documentation". That takes you to the aforementioned URL.

I apologise for the low quality of this page. My efforts are now focused on the Mac OS X networking page.

<http://developer.apple.com/networking/>

I keep the old pages around because they contain invaluable information, but I don't really have time to maintain them properly.

BTW, there is a broken link on that page,
about 2/3 of the way down, labelled "Inside Macintosh: Networking with
Open Transport". The href should say "documentation" where it now says
"techpubs".

I've filed this with our web folks.

btw For future reference, you can file reports about broken links using the "ADC Webmaster" link on the "Contact ADC" page.
