Apple File Sharing and ssh

Hello.
I am researching OpenSSH on OS X (Jaguar and Panther).

On jaguar a file called /System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare/sshHelper.

I wonder what that is for.
Does File Sharing use ssh for athentication or encryption?

The point is: If I disable Apples OpenSSH by some methods f.e. by adding a sysntax error in sshd.conf so that sshd will not get executed, will I prevent file sharing from working?

What do I need to test FileSharing on Jaguar? I have a OS X machine here with 2 OS, Panther and Jaguar. An OS 8.6 machine (I think I can upgrade until OS 9. Then I have an actual Linux on a PC. Would that be sufficient or would I need a second OS X machine?

Thank you for help, I am working on some papers concerning OpenSSH and Mac OS X. If my ideas don't break my Mac, look at www.openssh.org, the discussions in the mailing list are running since 2 weeks now. You are welcome.

Greetings,
Robert Welz
