OTRcvConnect and kOTNoDataErr?

I am trying to debug a problem and I cant work out what's wrong. I am
getting back kOTNoDataErr from OTRcvConnect. kOTNoDataErr is also the
same error that is return for OTConnect. (I think this is just
coincidence. The results are stored in different variable so that's not
the problem.)
This is a standard TCP/IP port connect request to the HTTP port.
I have a similar application that is smaller that doesnt cause this
problem, so it must be something that I am doing.
Any ideas what could be causing this error?
