Found out what the problem was that the user hasn't setup up their MacOS 9.x
setting at all, MacOS-X was fine (I guess the install must have done this)
and was just using appletalk.

So I guess the -3264 error makes sense, as there was nothing for the
endpoint to sit upon. So I have added additional test to make sure that the
tcp/ip layer is fully up and running.
