I will do that, but it seems to me that the Safari team must already know
very well about these faults, they certainly should, as these are very basic
things: 1. Safari completely ignores the entire Internet Config database,
which is where developers traditionally set up helper applications. 2.
Safari completely ignores the Launch Services database, which is the new way
of declaring binding via the Info.plist. 3. Safari doesn't recognize the
existence of Plug-ins in the standard Apple system folder "Internet
Plug-Ins". It's almost as if there was an intentional attempt to block
anyone except the privileged elite (Quicktime, Stuffit, etc) from being able
to interoperate with the Safari browser.
I've been assuming they knew all this and just didn't bother with it. I've
also been hoping they would fix it soon, but now I see quite a few updates
to Safari and nothing has been done to fix these problems, so yes, I'll file
a report via Apple Bug Reporter, as a last resort, but I still think it
would be very odd if the Safari team wasn't already aware of these faults.
