Hi MacNetwork people,
Any idea where this message is coming from ?
"mach_kernel: arplookup 10.1.1.2 failed: host is not on local network"
It's getting written every 20 minutes into my system.log
It would be nice to satisfy the situation, shut it off or
do something appropriate but I am not sure what's going on here.
Anyone have a vector to info about this activity?
To answer this, you'll have to let us know what the configuration is on
your system. It would be good to know the output from:
- netstat -ina
- netstat -rna
- ifconfig -a
The problem is that, possibly, some agent within your system is trying
to send a packet to that address (10.1.1.2), and that address isn't
reachable from the interfaces on your system, given what's in your
routing database (in the kernel).
There are other explanations, but it gets kind of tedious to go through
the verbiage. With the configuration in hand, it might be clear(er).
In any case, it shouldn't be happening, so the message is alerting you
to a problem (which may be minor). Does this happen all the time? How
long have you been seeing this? What version of the system?
Another possibility is a bug of some kind, but that never happens.
Regards,
Justin
