What causes protocols to detach from en0

  • Subject: What causes protocols to detach from en0

I have a customer who is experiencing frequent network drop outs.

Further investigation reveals he is seeing DLIL kernel events
KEV_DL_PROTO_DETACH and KEV_DL_PROTO_ATTACH.

What causes protocols to detach from en0 assuming
the interface remains attached (no KEV_DL_IF_DETACH)?

Reconfiguring the protocol with a new address (he's not using DHCP)
Sleep (does not appear to be a problem)
??? (what else)

I'd appreciate any insight.

- Peter
