KernEvent not notifying IP modification?

Is it possible that no KernEvent is sent when a DHCP client get its IP address?

i.e. before getting its IP from the server, the IP was 0.0.0.0 and when the IP is leased by the Server, no KernEvent is sent to indicate the modification.
