Maybe not. There would be overhead tunneling the packets over USB or FireWire to the USB/Firewire ethernet device.


You can run IP over FireWire directly for communication between two machines. The performance in many cases is not as stellar as one might anticipate, but it will get the job done.

Does the gig adapter on the G4 desktop really
run at full line speed?
