Hi
More info, though it doesn't explain much to me ;-)

I've just checked, and an OT app does send all 1's, so I could try

sockets in the same app?
The OT thing was a red herring. What's happening is this:
If I boot my Mac while connected to the DHCP server, then all
broadcasts (including OT) go to the subnet address - 10.18.1.255.
If I boot it with the network cable disconnected, and then plug it in
after startup, they go to 255.255.255.255.
After booting with DHCP, if I unplug the Ethernet cable for a couple of
seconds, then plug it in again, packets start to go to 255.255.255.255.
The same thing happens if I choose a different location after startup,
then switch back to "automatic".
So, something happens at boot time that makes broadcasts go to the
subnet address, that gets fixed (or should that be trashed?) by
resetting the network configuration later.
That raw port is starting to look attractive ;-)
Any ideas?
P.S - I'm running 10.2.6 (6L60).
