SharedIP allows a user level process the ability to implement a stack
that shares the IP address with the built-in stack. This is done to
support Classic.
You can not easily replace chunks of the stack such that applications
using the normal socket APIs will use your TCP/IP stack instead of the
native one.
Using SharedIP is not a good idea. It will only be around as long as
Classic is and it may only load when Classic is loaded in the future. I
don't know if SharedIP has been extensively tested with more than one
client.

If so, what is the role of the SharedIP NKE in that process? Is it an
