Hi,
I've just read the relevant portions of Stevens UNP and OT books
about multicasting I've found some differences in TTL. Stevens tells
that IPv4 UDP sockets TTL multicasting should value should be set to
completely different values while OT book does say that it is the hop
count.
What value should I use for OT if I want to multicast site local?
Stevens suggests the value of 32 (2^5) with IP_MULTICAST_TTL option
for sockets.
Should I specify 5 in the TTL for OT or the same 32? The only thing
that NWOT says that it is a hop count so I tend to put there 5, but I
may be wrong. What about OT on OS X and OS 9 since OS X OT uses
sockets underneath (-:
Thanks,
Tomas
