I can call URLIdle() maybe 5 or 6 times, then it hangs inside
somewhere. This could be any number of things and the script is
rather large, so I am wondering if there is some fundamental
dealbreaker with URL Access where I should bail on it now and cut my
losses, or if it's more likely to be something that I am doing.
Let's see, how can I put this politely...
Run! Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun! Run and NEVER look back!
URLAccess is buggy as all hell, and yes, it sometimes hands in URLIdle.
Nothing you can do about it AFAIK, short of rewriting -- I recommend
CFNetwork. CFNetwok in 10.3 still has some problems, but nothing like
URLArrrrrrgh.
will I end up with a Safari-esque situation of endless beachball
cursors?
Safari's beachballs have almost nothing to do with its networking
(sample it and see). Mostly it's (AFAIK) due to abysmal handling of
numerous cookies and form autofill records.
