There are numerous, depending on which level of the system you're
programming to, and what you system requirements are.

o For Carbon programmers, Gestalt is traditional.   Use
gestaltPhysicalRAMSizeInMegabytes and, if that fails,
gestaltPhysicalRAMSize.  See the comments in "Gestalt.h" for details.

o BSD-level programmers probably want to use sysctlbyname with
"hw.physmem".
