I wouldn't do that.

I believe there is a lot of code that assumes one loopback interface. You never know, it might just work.

I don't think you can do it from the command line. I think recompiling the kernel might be the only way to change that. This is probably a good thing since there are bound to be a number of other problems with multiple loopback interfaces.

Why do want this?
