I would like to point out that when I see an identical message posted to two lists that I read, I uncontrollably ratchet up the "annoyed by that person" meter inside my brain, just a teeny tiny bit. It just seems like a waste of my time to have to tab through the message on two separate lists. It's also insulting to anybody who answers the question on one list, not knowing that it's been answered, debated, and resolved on the other list. I can't imagine that anybody has an outright positive reaction to such multi-posting.

I would advise always posting only to one list at a time, and making your first list the one most pertinent to the question at hand. Chances are you can wait a day or two before posting to another list with a "I asked over there but didn't get any response" qualifier.

What we don't want is everybody posting separate identical messages to multiple lists.
