Receiving AFP server notifications

  • Subject: Receiving AFP server notifications

Hi,

in the specification of the AFP protocol I discovered that modern AFP servers send notifications to clients about files that are changed by other clients. So now I am wondering if there is a way for an application to receive these notifications.
If I want to observe changes to file on a local disk, I can employ the kqueue mechanism under Tiger. But when it comes to AFP servers, kqueue does not work. Sadly, I could not find any further documentation about the AFP server notifications but I think the Tiger Finder must be using them. I definitely want to avoid polling in my application.

Cheers

Frank
