I think the glitch is happening because my app is a package. We
switched from being a resource-based app about a year ago and I
guess this is the first time I am testing my internet config
code. Does anyone know if this is a package problem or a 10.4
problem? BTW I am using GetCurrentProcess() to get the
application's name which I pass in the ICAppSpec to ICSetPref(),
in case the user changed the app's name. Adding .app on the end
makes no difference. Really I think the name is ignored, but
still, I can't figure out why when I register my creator code, I
don't see it in RCDefaultApp. Is there another routine in IC that
registers the full path to a package or something? Thanx for your
help,
Actually I just tried calling ICSetPref() with a nil spec and size
of 0 and it didn't create the entry in RCDefaultApp either. I also
tried lsregister -kill and then tried my app and it still didn't
install. So is internet config just dead now? And if so, what is
the replacement?
OK something is very very wrong. If I add a protocol helper in IE 5,
it doesn't work, and it doesn't show up in RCDefaultApp. If I change
an existing helper in IE to my app, it doesn't change, and it doesn't
show up in RCDefaultApp. If I add my app to mailto in RCDefaultApp,
it just flickers and switches back to the original app.
I am wondering if maybe I have a corrupted database. Could someone
try setting a protocol handler in IE in 10.4.7 and lemme know if it
works? Is there another way to reset everything besides what's been
discussed in this thread so far? I have tried throwing away ~/
Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconfig.plst but no help.
I'm pretty much at the end of my rope and have lost yet another 3
days dinking with something that should have "just worked" and my app
will be pretty much pointless without this feature. Not to be dour,
but I just need something to go right for the sake of my sanity as
much as anything else :-/
