faster file transfers in Classic

  • Subject: faster file transfers in Classic

We have two customers who have reported much faster file transfers when they run Fetch 3.0.3 in Classic than when they run the current Fetch release, or command-line ftp. One is connecting to ncftpd on a Sun Solaris server, the other to PureFTPD on a Dell Linux box. One user reports seeing 30k/s with OS X's command line ftp, 150k/s to the same server from a Windows box, and 200k/s running Fetch 3.0.3 in Classic.

Is there any reason why a Classic app might see better TCP throughput than a native one?

Thanks,
