client/server communication using CFSocket(what is this port problem?)

i still don't get it. i used lsof and netstat to make sure that the port is not being used. and i can bind the port to a socket using BSD sockets. Yet when i'm using the CFSocket, i get that unknown error, code 49: EADDRNOTAVAIL. how come the port is availabe with BSD sockets but not with CFSocket, even though i'm not using the reuse address option in either case.
