I have read extensively about firewalls and understand pretty well
how they work, and have set up a LAN of my own that works through one
very nicely (that is, I can access stuff on the internet from any
machine on the LAN). EXCEPT - I can't seem to access any of my
computers from outside (via the internet)!
So my question is:
Suppose I have a computer on my LAN with LAN address 192.168.123.13,
which is connected to the internet through an Asante FR3004LC router/
firewall at LAN address 192.168.123.254. The ISP has given me the IP
address 66.92.67.127, and "Gateway" address 66.92.67.1 and subnet
mask 255.255.255.0, which I have put into the router in the
appropriate places.
Then suppose I want to access (from some other place on the internet)
a website I have set up, using OS-X, on the machine at 192.168.123.13
Exactly what should I put in the browser's address line to access the
website at 192.168.123.13?
I have tried 66.92.67.127 (although I don't see how the router would
know to access 192.168.123.13) and get the message that thr browser
can't load it.
(I may as well add that the website works fine when accessed from any
place on the LAN, using address 192.168.123.13)
TIA,
Dan Killoran
