Is there an "official" way for accessing other configuration
dictionaries beside looking directly at the preferences xml file,
including which of the current configurations is selected by the user.
You'll have to define "other configuration dictionaries"...
In general, the <SystemConfiguration/SCNetworkConfiguration.h> APIs
(available in Tiger, better in Leopard) will provide you with access
to the "system" network configuration. PPP services add a bit more
complexity in that there is also per-user configuration content stored
in the [CF] preferences that may be used when a connection is
established. For Leopard, we added some new
SystemConfiguration.framework SPI to manage the per-user preferences
that may (or may not) become API in a future release.
