I am not aware of all the causes, but if your computer is not part of a
Windows domain ( which is not the same thing as a workgroup ), then you
will certainly get this issue. This option from what I can tell interrogates
a Windows domain server.


If you want to emulate being part of a Windows domain, if you don't have a 'real'
one available, then I would look into the advanced configuration of Samba.
